Color analysis borrows its vocabulary from color theory, then uses half of it loosely. These are the definitions this site sticks to.

- Capsule wardrobe
A small, deliberately coordinated set of clothes, built from one season's palette, that mix and match easily.
- Chroma
A color's saturation or clarity, from pure and bright to muted and greyed.
- Color fan
A hinged fan of color swatches, one per season or subtype, used by consultants to compare shades quickly.
- Contrast level
The visible gap in lightness between your hair, skin and eyes, from low and blended to high and dramatic.
- Cool tone / warm tone
The simple two-way split, cool tone or warm tone, often used as the entry point before narrowing to a season.

- Seasonal color analysis
A system that matches clothing and makeup colors to a person's natural hue, value and chroma, grouped into seasons.
- Secondary characteristic
The second-strongest trait in your coloring, real but never as extreme as your dominant hue, value or chroma.
- Sister seasons
The two seasons on either side of yours on the color wheel, close enough to borrow colors from.
- Sixteen-season system
A further-subdivided color-analysis framework, common in Korea, that splits some of the twelve seasons even finer.
