Color fan

A color fan, sometimes called a color deck or drape fan, is a hinged set of small fabric or card swatches, typically arranged by season or subtype, that a consultant or shopper can spread out and compare quickly against the skin. It is a more portable, lower-cost alternative to full-sized draping fabric, useful for a quick in-store check, a shopping trip, or confirming a color decision away from a formal consultation, though it trades some accuracy for convenience since the swatches are much smaller than a proper 85-centimetre drape. Many color-analysis businesses sell a personalised fan built from a client's specific season after a full draping session, so the client can carry their exact palette when shopping for clothes or paint rather than relying on memory. A well-made fan groups colors the same way a season page does: best colors, neutrals, metals and colors to avoid, in one compact, swatch-true reference.
