Personal color (Korea)
The Korean beauty industry's own color-analysis tradition, hugely popular and typically starting from a warm/cool split.
Personal color analysis is an especially popular branch of the color-analysis industry in South Korea, where dedicated consultation studios, department-store counters and even mobile apps offer professional draping sessions as a mainstream beauty service rather than a niche one. Korean practice typically starts with the same broad warm-tone versus cool-tone split used elsewhere, then narrows to four seasons and often further into finer subtypes similar in spirit to the West's twelve- or sixteen-season systems, sometimes adding distinctions like true, light, deep and mute within each season. K-pop styling and Korean skincare and makeup marketing have popularised the vocabulary well beyond the country's borders, and many international shoppers now search for products described by warm-tone or cool-tone suitability rather than by season name at all. The core science, hue, value and chroma, is the same as in Western color analysis, but the terminology, the popularity and the retail integration differ noticeably.
Why it matters
Korean personal color terminology, especially the paired terms warm-tone and cool-tone, has become the default vocabulary on a huge share of global beauty product pages, so understanding it helps shoppers and readers well beyond Korea's own borders too.
